Four women were observed disrobed on the streets following their alleged involvement in a theft at a local laundry shop.

The incident took place at England Laundry, where the women had gone under the pretence of seeking services. They managed to deceive the worker who was busy ironing clothes and stole between 20,000 to 25,000 rupees in cash before attempting to flee.

The escape of the women was captured on CCTV, raising suspicion among the shopkeepers who, upon inspection, realized the cash was missing. The owner raised an alarm, calling for help to catch the thieves. Passersby hearing the commotion joined in and managed to apprehend the women. However, in a desperate attempt to avoid capture and possible assault by the crowd, the women from the Devipujak community disrobed themselves, creating a spectacle on the street.

The police were promptly called to the scene and took custody of the women. The police are  investigating whether the women were assaulted or subjected to any other form of harm. The true identities of the women remain unknown, and the police are working with counsellors from the Abhayam 181 helpline and Baroda Citizens Council to ascertain more information and determine if the women have been involved in similar incidents in the past.
