Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday shared a photograph of Manish Sisodia embracing his wife, while pointing out the injustice being done to a "person who gave hope to the poor children of the country".

Sisodia, who is currently embroiled in an alleged liquor scam case, was granted permission by the court to visit his ailing wife for a duration of six hours, from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday.

The photograph shared by Kejriwal captured the moment between Sisodia and his wife just before his departure back to Tihar jail. Posting the picture on X, Kejriwal wrote, "This picture is extremely painful. Is it right to do such injustice to a person who gave hope to the poor children of the country?"

Sisodia arrived at his Mathura Road residence in a prison van around 10 am on Saturday. During this brief respite, he also partook in the 'Chhoti Diwali' celebrations by lighting diyas at his home.

Despite the presence of media personnel outside his residence, Sisodia refrained from any interaction, adhering to the court's directive prohibiting him from engaging in media discourse or political activities.

Sisodia's wife, Seema Sisodia, has been battling multiple sclerosis. In June, the court had permitted Sisodia to visit her, but a sudden deterioration in her health necessitated hospitalization, which prevented their meeting.

The Aam Aadmi Party leader was arrested in February over allegations related to a liquor scam. His bail applications have consistently been denied, with the Supreme Court recently rejecting his plea on the grounds of an established money trail in the case.

The Supreme Court said Sisodia can reapply for bail after three months.
