Two senior Kerala cops suspended over links with criminals

Two senior Kerala police officers have been suspended over links with criminals. The action was taken based on a report by the state police chief Anil Kant.

The government found that actions of two police officers tarnished the image of the police department.

By Shibimol KG: The Kerala government on Thursday suspended two senior police officers over links with criminals. They have been placed under suspension, pending inquiry, for grave misconduct and for tarnishing the image of the state police.

The suspension orders were issued against Deputy Superintendents of Police (Dy.SP) Johnson KJ (Crime Detachment, Thiruvananthapuram Rural) and M Prasad (Special Investigation Unit – 1, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau).

The state police chief Anil Kant, in his report, said the officers have mediated to resolve the real estate transaction dispute between Nidhin, a native of Muttada, who was injured in an attack on January 8, and Renjith alias Umbidi Renjith, an accomplice of notorious criminal Ohm Prakash.

Ohm Prakash is yet to be nabbed for his alleged involvement in the attack that took place in Pattoor.

The government examined the matter in detail and it was found that there was grave misconduct and indiscipline and the actions of two police officers were unbecoming of a senior police officer, which tarnished the image of the police department.
