Rahul is leading the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the ongoing Indian Premier League season and playing himself as a wicketkeeper-batsman to boost his chances of selection in the T20 World Cup squad.

With 302 runs in 8 matches, Rahul has had a decent outing with the bat so far in this IPL. In wicketkeeping stats, he holds the top position with 11 dismissals (9 catches and 2 stumpings).
"For India, the most important thing in T20 cricket, and I said that to Rahul in Australia (T20 World Cup) also, (is to) just play without fear, just go and hit. There is long batting. You can always control if you lose wickets, but just go and hit," said Ganguly replying to a question during a media interaction organised by Delhi Capitals.

Ganguly, who holds the position of Director of Cricket for the Delhi franchise, made a special mention of the knock Rahul played against the Chennai Super Kings in Lucknow. He made 82 off 53 balls in LSG's eight-wicket win.

"The other day I saw him play an innings against Chennai...I thought he was exceptional. He played well at the top of the order and did exactly what was required to do at that moment. As I said, it's about playing freely and playing without fear. That is a must in T20 cricket," said Ganguly.

Lucknow registered their second win over CSK this season as they breached the fortress in Chepauk to register a six-wicket win while chasing a stiff target of 211 to win. Marcus Stoinis starred in LSG's run-chase and scored an unbeaten century (124* off 63 balls) to take his side to victory.
The game also witnessed a century from CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored an unbeaten 108 off 60 balls.
