By Satyajeet Kumar: The severed head of Rubika Pahadin, who was allegedly murdered by her husband, was found after 14 days in Jharkhand's Sahebganj district on Saturday. The severed head of a woman was recovered from a pond near Borio Bazar area.

Fishermen in the area noticed the head lying in the pond and reported it to the Borio police.

Rebika Pahadin was allegedly chopped into pieces by her husband Dildar Ansari and in-laws. They later went to file a missing complaint in a bid to evade arrest. The incident came to light after police started investigation, following the registration of the missing complaint, and recovered Rubika's mutilated body from an old house in Santhali Momin Tola area on Saturday evening.

HOW DID THE CASE COME TO FORE?

Police swung into action after a human leg and other body parts were found behind an under-construction Anganwadi centre in Borio Santhali village. Upon receiving information, superintendent of police Anuranjan Kispotta and other police officials reached the crime spot on Saturday night and sniffer dogs were also pressed into action. Heavy security has been deployed in the area and a large number of police personnel have been deployed to maintain the law and order situation.

According to Deputy Inspector General of Jharkhand, 18 parts of the body of a 22-year-old woman belonging to a primitive tribal community were found in Sahibganj.

Police are suspecting that the accused used a sharp object such as an electric cutter to chop the body of a woman into several pieces. Rubika's father claims that his daughter's body was chopped into 50 pieces, although the police have so far retrieved only 18 pieces and sent them for DNA testing. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
