The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has arrested the fifth accused in connection to the case of firing outside the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The accused, identified as Mohammad Chaudhary was taken into custody in Rajasthan.

According to the authorities, Chaudhary provided money to the two shooters, Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta, and also ordered them to conduct a recce of the actor's residence Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai's Bandra area.

The Crime Branch has said that Chaudhary is being brought to Mumbai today and would be produced in court later in the day where and a a demand for his custody will be made.

Earlier, Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta were detained from Gujarat's Bhuj by the Mumbai Police.

Two other accused -- Sonu Subhash Chander and Anuj Thapan -- were also arrested late last month.

However, on May 1, Thapan died after he attempted suicide in police custody.

He was rushed to Mumbai's GT Hospital where his condition remained critical and died shortly after.

On April 14, the two bike-borne accused fired four rounds outside the Bollywood actor's house before fleeing the spot.

According to a Mumbai Police official, Salman Khan was present at his house when the firing occurred.
