As the selection for T20 World Cup 2024 nears, the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal, a regular for India in both white-ball and red-ball cricket, has become a big concern. Jaiswal, who was among the top-scoring batters in the IPL last season, has barely gotten runs this term. The left-handed opening batter was also being seen among the top contenders for the opening spot in the Indian team at the T20 World Cup but that might no longer be the case. Amid this situation, India captain Rohit Sharma has been advised to pick up the phone and give a pep-talk to Jaiswal.

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra, in a video on his YouTube channel, admitted being worried about Jaiswal's situation and wants Rohit or Kumar Sangakkara, Rajasthan's director of cricket operations, to step in.

"I am getting slightly worried about Yashasvi because Yashasvi didn't used to play like this. He is trying to murder every ball. You are a very good player, and you are good because you believe in timing. You are not a wrestler and you are not Andre Russell. Your playing style is very different," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

"Since I like this kid a lot, I want Kumar Sangakkara to talk to him, or else Rohit Sharma should pick up the phone and talk to him and say - 'You have to go to the T20 World Cup but this form is not required, play a little cautiously'. He hit a six and a four, and then tried another big shot and got out."

Jaiswal has registered scores of 24, 5, 10, 0, 24, 39 in the IPL so far. In comparison, some of the other young batters in the league, like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, etc. have done wonders with the bat.

With Virat Kohli also being looked as an opening option, alongside Shubman Gill, continuity of Jaiswal's poor form might result into him dropping out of the T20 World Cup race soon.
