Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna and his father, senior JD(S) leader HD Revanna, were issued notices by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Karnataka Police for questioning in an alleged sex scandal case, sources said on Wednesday.

A case was lodged against the father-son duo was previously booked for sexual harassment, stalking, intimidation and outraging the dignity of a woman based on a complaint by a woman who worked in Revanna's house.

The FIR was referred to the SIT, led by BK Singh, Additional Director-General of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, formed to probe the alleged sex scandal involving Prajwal Revanna, after several explicit videos were circulated.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has demanded a comprehensive report within three days from the Karnataka Police regarding allegations of sexual misconduct against Prajwal Revanna.

The NCW expressed grave concern over the circulation of numerous objectionable videos on social media, allegedly showing Prajwal Revanna sexually assaulting numerous women.

Prajwal Revanna is believed to have fled the country after the second phase of Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka on April 26. The NCW questioned the rationale behind allowing Revanna to leave the country despite having lodged a complaint and the absence of any police action or arrest.

Prajwal Revanna is the NDA candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, which went to polls last Friday. He was suspended from the JD(S) on Tuesday amid the row over explicit videos.

HD Revanna had stated that he was open to an investigation over the allegations of sexual abuse involving his son Prajwal and himself, and said they were ready to face action in accordance with law, if the charges are proved.

Alleging that there was "politics" behind the issue, the elder son of JD(S) patriarch and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda said his son Prajwal Revanna would "join" the probe "whenever he is asked to".
