In a fresh round of clashes in violence-hit Manipur on Sunday, one Kuki Zo 'village volunteer' was killed, while three others were injured in the Koubru Hill range area.

A gunfight broke out, and violence ensued in the sensitive area of Leimakhong-Kangchup region at around 2:35 am on Sunday.

Following the violence among armed miscreants, the Community on Tribal Unity (CoTU) imposed a 12-hour total shutdown from 12 noon on April 28 until midnight in the entire Sadar Hills Kangpokpi district.

The clashes came a day after two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed, and two others were injured in an attack by armed militants in the Naransena area of Manipur's Bishnupur district in the early morning hours of Saturday.

The incident happened between midnight and 2:15 am, police said. The armed groups fired a bomb at the personnel, which then exploded inside the outpost of the security forces.

The dead personnel were identified as CRPF Sub-Inspector N Sarkar and Head Constable Arup Saini.
