By Abdul Basheer: Suspended Telangana BJP MLA Raja Singh, on Wednesday, said that it’s not Indian culture to celebrate New Year. Calling it a “bad practice", Singh said youths should be aware of the culture of their native place and not celebrate anything that’s not Indian.

“Celebrating New Year is not Indian culture but western culture. It's a culture of the people who ruled India for 200 years. It's bad practice and young people must be aware,” said the suspended MLA in a video.

Raja Singh also added that New Year should not be celebrated on January 1 in India as it is celebrated with different names and on different dates in different states.
