Nitish Kumar's party leader shot dead in Bihar's Patna

A young leader of the Janata Dal United (JDU) in Bihar was shot dead by unidentified attackers in Patna on Wednesday night, police told India Today.

Four attackers on a bike opened fire at Saurabh Kumar late at night when he, along with his friends and family, was returning from a wedding ceremony.

"Attackers on motorcycles opened fire at Kumar while returning from a reception. Another person was also injured in the incident, and their condition is stable," Superintendent of Police Bharat Soni said.

Kumar, who was shot in his head and neck, succumbed to his injuries.

Police said that they are analysing the CCTV footage and collecting evidence.

SP Bharat Soni said that they are exploring all angles, including politics and business relations.

Following the incident, angry JDU supporters gathered at the spot and demanded strict and swift action in the murder.
