A National Institute of Technology (NIT) student died by suicide at the university building in Kerala's Kozhikode district on Monday, police said. The student died after he allegedly jumped from the building inside the campus.

The victim was identified as Yogeswar Nath, who was a non-Keralite, news agency PTI reported.

"Prima facie, it is a case of suicide. He was found dead after jumping from the building. It is suspected that he took the extreme step around 5:30 am," a police official said.

More details about the incident will come up after a detailed investigation, the official added.
