Muzaffarnagar building collapse: 1 killed, 14 rescued as search continues

NEW DELHI: Several people are

feared trapped

under the debris of a building roof that collapsed in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar on Sunday.
Soon after the incident, an NDRF team reached the incident site while local people started the rescue operations.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognisance of the incident and has directed officials to reach the spot and provide all necessary help and treatment to the injured persons.


"22-25 people were trapped after the roof of a building collapsed in Jansath. One person lost his life, while 11 people have been rescued and are receiving treatment. The entire administration is present here for the rescue operation," said Muzaffarnagar DM Aravind Mallappa Bangari told news agency PTI.
Muzaffarnagar SSP Abhishek Singh said the incident was reported at 5:30 pm.
"It was reported at 5:30 in the evening that this complex fell. We have two lintel structures and we are removing the above lintel structure...The operations are on. It was a two-floor complex," said Muzaffarnagar SSP Abhishek Singh.
