MCOCA to be invoked against Bishnoi, others for Salman home firing

transferred from unit 9 to assistant commissioner (Crime branch D-1) paving the way to invoke the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (

MCOCA

).
An officer of the rank of an ACP is the investigating officer in MCOCA cases.

ACP Mahesh Desai who was heading the probe is retiring next month and hence the case has been transferred to ACP Nade. Mumbai police have got sanction from commissioner of police for invoking MCOCA in the case. An official said that once they get sanction, they will put up a proposal to the 37th court, seeking permission to produce the four accused before MCOCA court on the next remand date on Monday.

from Sabarmati jail to Mumbai. Under MCOCA, police will get ample custody and will have 180 days to file the chargesheet," said an officer. On Friday, police arrested two more persons, Subhash Chander and Anuj Thapan, who allegedly supplied weapons on behalf of Bishnoi to the two shooters.
