Man beaten to death on charge of stealing cattle in Jharkhand village

Residents of Sadi Gawaro village in Giridih district in Jharkhand allegedly beat a man to death whom they suspect was stealing cattle.

As soon as police received information, they reached the spot where Vinod was attacked. Police have registered a case and investigation is underway.

By Satyajeet Kumar: A man was beaten to death by a mob for allegedly trying to steal cattle in Sadi Gawaro village in Giridih district in Jharkhand.

The deceased has been identified as Vinod Chaudhary, a resident of Simariya village in Katamdag subdivision of Hazaribagh district in Jharkhand. Police said Vinod was an accused in many criminal cases, including theft.

According to police, on the night of December 31, Biralal Tudu and his family were asleep when Vinod entered his house. Police said Biralal Tudu kept goats and cows in his house. Vinod was untying the goats when the cattle started crying.

Hearing the sound of the cattle, Biralal Tudu's woke up and raised a hue and cry. Biralal tried getting out of the room where he was sleeping with his family members, but the room was locked from outside. He broke open the door and came out with a bow and arrow. Vinod and Biralal got into a fight, which soon spiralled out of control and both of them assaulted each other.

Meanwhile, the other villagers woke up by the commotion and gathered around Biralal's house. Vinod released himself from Biralal's grip and was trying to flee when he was mobbed and beaten to death. Vinod sustained grievous injuries in the mob attack, which eventually led to his death.

After getting information of the incident, sub-divisional police officer Anil Kumar Singh and in-charge of Mufassil police station Vinay Kumar Ram Sadalbal reached the spot. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
