BJP MP from Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal on Thursday clarified that he did not make statements against the party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi after a post on X falsely attributed a quote to him.

An X user posted a quote that was attributed to the BJP MP and wrote in Hindi, "Joining BJP and supporting Modi was my worst decision, I was not aware of his strategy, people of Ladakh please forgive me."

Namgyal quoted the post and wrote, "I want to clarify that I never said these words. I strongly condemn those spreading false statements by misusing my name. As a loyal BJP Karyakarta, I've always admired our most dynamic leader Sh. Narendra Modi Ji and all our leadership."

The post which falsely attributed the quote criticising PM Modi and BJP was widely circulated on various social media platforms.

It was posted on the micro blogging site two days after the BJP's decision to drop Namgyal and replace him with Tashi Gyalson as its Lok Sabha candidate from the Ladakh Parliamentary seat.

Namgyal had reacted to the BJP's decision and expressed his unhappiness over the choice of Tashi Gyalson as the party candidate for the seat. He claimed that his supporters in Ladakh were voicing disapproval over the BJP's decision and questioned if the party could retain the seat.

Namgyal also added that he had communicated his "disagreement" to the party top brass regarding this "injustice" to a dedicated 'karyakarta'.
