Karnataka cabinet ministers along with senior Congress leaders like Randeep Surjewala staged a sit-in protest in front of Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Sunday.

The Congress leaders, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar alleged that the amount released by the Centre as drought relief fund is "insufficient".

After the Supreme Court's intervention, the Centre on Saturday decided to release Rs 3,454 crore against Karnataka government's Rs 18,000 crore demand.

Siddaramaiah slammed the Centre for releasing insufficient funds. He said, "The Centre has released only 19 per cent of the amount we had asked for. We are protesting as the funds released are insufficient. The Centre has released only Rs 3,454 crore. Centre yet to release Rs 14,700 crore."

Calling it unfair, Shivakumar said, "Not even 20 per cent of the amount we demanded for has been released. We will continue to fight this legally."
