Mumbai Indians' player

Tim David

and batting coach

Kieron Pollard

have each received a 20 percent fine of their match fees due to a breach of the IPL's Code of Conduct during their match against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur on April 18.

The penalty was issued following a viral video from the game that stirred controversy. It allegedly showed members of the five-time champions' squad and support staff in the dugout providing improper assistance to batter

Suryakumar Yadav

in requesting a review.

"David and Pollard committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. David and Pollard were each fined 20 percent of their respective match fees," an IPL release said on Saturday.

"Both admitted to the offence and accepted the match referee's sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the match referee's decision is final and binding."
During the 15th over of Mumbai Indians' innings, a delivery from Arshdeep Singh veered full and outside the off-stump, hovering close to the line. Suryakumar, then at 67 runs off 47 balls, attempted to reach for it, but the on-field umpire ruled it a legitimate delivery.

However, television cameras captured MI head coach Mark Boucher gesturing to Suryakumar that the delivery was wide. Subsequently, David and Pollard were observed encouraging the batsman to request a review, which violates the rules.
