Husband of Jharkhand actor shot dead near Kolkata arrested

Riya Kumari was allegedly shot dead by miscreants who wanted to rob her car

By Suryagni Roy: The husband of Jharkhand actor Riya Kumari, who was shot dead on her way to Kolkata, has been arrested by the police in Bengal’s Howrah. The actor was shot dead yesterday morning when she tried to stop a robbery attempt near Bagnan.

The couple was travelling with their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter.

Following the incident, Kumari's family filed a complaint against Prakash, his ex-wife and his two brothers for harassing and threatening her.

Prakash was driving the car, when around 6 am, their car was stopped by a few men who wanted to snatch the vehicle away. As Kumari protested, she was shot dead. Her husband went to the police station to report the incident.

Prakash Kumar is a film director and has made several short films and ad films. He also has a mining business.
