Granthi charged with raping minor, rape bid on her sister

SULTANPUR LODHI: A 28-year-old granthi has been charged with raping a minor, attempting to

rape

her sister, intimidating them, and then making their pictures public.
The mother of these girls claimed that the granthi belonged to their village, worked at a big gurdwara, and was a frequent visitor to their home. She has claimed that after the floods last year, he told the family about a compensation scheme of government for girls and offered to help the family secure it.

On this pretext, he took the family to a room and pretended to take its signatures on some dummy papers.
The girls' mother has alleged that he raped her younger daughter inside that room after spiking her cold drink, and in November, raped and intimidated her all over again. On January 16, he took her elder daughter to the room and tried to rape her, too, but she managed to escape. Thereafter he leaked obscene pictures of her daughters on WhatsApp.
