Two sisters, Sita and Gita, who originally hailed from Uttar Pradesh Gorakhpur, were presumed dead after their brother filed a police complaint in January 2023 that his sisters had gone missing. But the women were found alive, married and also had a child each.

The sisters, along with their brother Ajay Prajapati and their parents, used to live in Delhi. Prajapati was employed in the national capital.

In his complaint to the police filed in Delhi on January 3, 3023, Prajapati claimed that Sita (20) and Gita (21) had gone missing and said that a man from their village Belghat in Gorakhpur was allegedly having an affair with one of his siblings.

Prajapati said that when he returned to his village and visited the man's house to enquire about his missing sisters, the latter and his family verbally and physically assaulted him and also threatened to kill him.

Based on his complaint, a case was registered, and the police started an investigation into the case.

Amid the probe, it came to light that Sita and Gita were alive. When the police called them on the phone, the sisters told the officers that they had run away from home to marry their lovers from Uttarakhand and Haryana.

On Monday, Sita and Gita, along with their children, reached Belghat.
