A retired Border Security Force (BSF) soldier shot dead his daughter's boyfriend at a flat in Ghaziabad society on Saturday and later informed police about the incident.

Rajesh Kumar Singh had called Vipul, an engineering student, to his daughter's flat where he fired multiple bullets at him at 3.30 am, following a heated argument. He then himself informed the police about the incident.

Subsequently, police reached the scene and took Rajesh into custody and sent Vipul's body for autopsy.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Vipul and Rajesh's daughter, who worked at a private company in Noida, had been friends for six years after they met on Facebook.

Vipul was allegedly harassing Rajesh's daughter, after which he called him to his flat to talk over the issue. The matter soon escalated and Rajesh shot Vipul multiple times with his licenced pistol.

Rajesh has been taken into custody and is being questioned.
