Delhi Police to issue notices to social media handles over 'doctored' Amit Shah video

The Delhi Police will be sending notices to all social media handles that uploaded or circulated an allegedly doctored video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah calling for scrapping of reservations for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, sources told India Today TV.

A case was registered on Sunday following a complaint by the BJP, and the police sought information from X and Facebook for details of accounts that uploaded the allegedly morphed video.

According to the BJP, an old video of Amit Shah discussing the removal of the 4 percent "unconstitutional" reservation for Muslims in Telangana was edited to falsely depict him calling for ending reservation during a recent Lok Sabha election rally.

Several social media handles, including the official handles of Congress’s state units, shared it claiming, "if the BJP government is formed again, OBC and SC/ST reservation will be abolished."

According to Delhi Police sources, a team of officials will be reaching Telangana today and will serve a notice to the Telangana Congress office.

The Delhi Police team may also issue notices for questioning to Congress officials who shared the video on social media, sources added.

A high-level meeting was held today at the Delhi Police headquarters to discuss further action in the case.
