NEW DELHI: BJP on Thursday claimed that

Congress

had abused celebrated soldiers on several occasions and is advocating for

Naxals

for votes as it has sensed its defeat in Lok Sabha polls.
At a press conference, party's national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate on Wednesday described Naxals killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh as '

martyrs

' and raised questions over action against the extremists.

"We have seen an important operation in Chhattisgarh in which 29 Naxals were eliminated by security personnel. It was indeed a big achievement for the security forces. Instead of welcoming the action, Congress has done what is expected of them. It is unthinkable that Congress claimed that the Naxals were essentially 'martyrs'. It put a question mark on bravery of our security forces," the BJP functionary said.
Poonawalla played a video clip of Shrinate's remarks and said, "Supriya described Naxals as martyrs and expressed sympathy for them. The Congress neta said a thorough probe should be conducted into this (operation)."

Claiming that Shrinate has exposed the real face of INDIA bloc, he said, "Congress is advocating for Naxals as they are losing in the elections. They are not hesitant to stand by terrorists while opposing PM Modi."
Poonawalla said it is ironic that Congress saw "sadak ka gunda" in the first CDS Bipin Rawat but the same party's Kanhaiya Kumar and Shrinate call terrorists and Naxals martyrs, they cried for the terrorists killed in Batla House encounter and addressed Osma Bin Laden with respect.
On the stone-pelting incident in Medinipur, Poonawalla said, "Who is safe in Bengal? The teams of ED and NIA are not safe, faithful Hindus who celebrate Ram Navami are not safe. Only Sandeshkhali's criminal Shahjahan Sheikh and TMC syndicates who are involved in corruption are safe."
