Cleric beaten to death by 3 masked men inside mosque in Rajasthan

A cleric was allegedly beaten to death by three masked men inside a mosque in Rajasthan's Ajmer, police said.

Mohammad Mahir was attacked on Saturday night when he was sleeping with six children inside the mosque.

Three masked men allegedly entered the mosque and threatened the children, chased them out, after which they attacked the cleric with sticks. They then fled the scene.

Subsequently, locals and other members of the community reached the mosque demanding appropriate action in the case.

A local resident said that Mohammad Mahir had arrived in Ajmer only two days ago, and used to teach children.

No arrests have been made so far and further investigations are underway.
