An FIR was registered against Karnataka BJP leader and Shivamogga MP BY Raghavendra on Sunday for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections.

The complaint, filed by government official Avinash P, alleged that Raghavendra's comments at an election rally, stating "This Lok Sabha election is about Dharma Yudha between pro-national and anti-national," have violated the code of conduct.

The son of former Karnataka chief minister and senior BJP leader BS Yediyurappa, Raghavendra is the BJP's Lok Sabha candidate from Shivamogga.

On the other hand, the Congress has announced Geetha Shivarajkumar, wife of Kannada actor Shivrajkumar, as its Lok Sabha candidate from Shivamogga.

The BJP has announced its first list of 20 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka. Candidates for the remaining five seats will be announced soon.

Voting for the 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka will be held in two phases on April 26 and May 7. The votes will be counted on June 4.
