Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday launched a scathing attack on the BJP and claimed that the ruling party wants to destroy the Constitution made by Babasaheb Ambedkar.

"The BJP wants to destroy the Constitution promulgated by Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar. We will not allow the Constitution and democracy to deplete in India," Lalu said while addressing an election rally in Saran.

Further in his speech, the RJD chief alleged that the BJP intends to abolish the reservation for backward communities.

"They (BJP) want to snatch away the rights of the backward communities. We will not allow this at any cost for which we will stand united shoulder to shoulder," he said.

Earlier in the day, Lalu Prasad's daughter Rohini Acharya filed her nomination from Bihar’s Saran Lok Sabha seat. Acharya was accompanied by Prasad, her mother Rabri Devi, and brothers Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap, among others.

Talking to reporters earlier in the day, Tejashwi Yadav dubbed the BJP as "Badka Jhuttha Party" (a party of liars). He also accused the NDA government of not standing up to the commitments made by them while campaigning for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

The former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister expressed confidence that his sister will receive the wholehearted support from voters of the constituency.

"Along with Saran, the 'Mahagathbandhan' is going to win all the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar. BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, know very well they are going to lose all the seats in the state," Tejashwi Yadav said.

"I have said time and again that the Lok Sabha poll results in Bihar will be surprising. It will be completely in favour of the 'Mahagathbandhan'. The PM has nothing to speak of the NDA’s work in Bihar in the last 10 years," he asserted.

Saran will go to polls in the fifth phase on May 20. Lok Sabha elections to the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar will be held in seven phases between April 19 and June 1.
