Amritpal and Papalpreet purportedly stayed at Dera in Nadlon on March 28, when both decided to visit Hoshiarpur.

By Manjeet Sehgal: Punjab Police investigation has revealed that Khalistani preacher Amritpal Singh and his aide Papalpreet Singh had been taking refuge in different Deras after the crackdown.

The fugitive Amritpal Singh and his aide took shelter in and around the districts of Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Amritsar. The police found that Amritpal and Papalpreet stayed at three different Deras in Phagwara town, Nadlon village and Bibi village.

Amritpal visited Dera in Phagwara on March 27. The Dera in Phagwara is linked to the Hazoor Sahib Gurdwara of Maharashtra’s Nanded.

Amritpal and Papalpreet purportedly stayed at Dera in Nadlon on March 28, when both decided to visit Hoshiarpur.

They travelled in a white Toyota Innova MUV, which was being driven by Joga Singh, before the counter-intelligence wing of the Punjab Police chased the vehicle. The vehicle was found abandoned at Marnaiyan village.

According to sources, Amritpal, Papalpreet and Joga separated at Marnaiyan village.

While Joga Singh was arrested from Ludhiana’s Sagnewal on Friday, CCTV footage from a Dera near Pandori Bibi village revealed that Papalpreet Singh had stayed there on March 29.

The police crackdown on Amritpal Singh and his outfit 'Waris Punjab De' began on March 18, weeks after he and his supporters stormed the Ajnala police station near Amritsar to secure the release of an arrested man.

However, Amritpal Singh managed to dodge the crackdown in Jalandhar and escaped in different vehicles by changing his appearance multiple times, as per police.

Punjab Police have arrested or detained a number of his associates under criminal cases related to spreading disharmony, attempt to murder and attack, police personnel and creating obstructions in the lawful discharge duty by public servants.

They have slapped the stringent National Security Act against some of them.
