2 killed after being crushed under chariot wheels in Karnataka

Two people were crushed to death when they came under the wheels of a chariot in Karnataka's Vijayapura. The incident was triggered due to a stampede. One person sustained critical injuries during the stampede.

Two people died after they were crushed under the wheels of a ceremonial chariot in Karnataka's Vijayapura district on Sunday. The victims were identified as Bandu Katakadonda (35) and Sobu Shinde (55).

The incident occurred during a temple chariot festival in Lachyana village.

Thousands of people had gathered to catch a glimpse of the chariot that belonged to the village's deity, Sri Siddalinga Maharaja. A stampede broke out and that triggered the accident.

One person got injured during the stampede and was shifted to the district hospital.

The identity of the injured is yet to be ascertained.
